Member Spotlight: Making a Difference in 2020

Making a difference in your community does not always have to be a grand gesture. Making small contributions to those who are most in need can make the biggest impact. Making a difference doesn’t mean you need to rally a group behind you, it can be something as simple as buying a meal for someone in need, or advocating for an organization to gain more visibility. Below are just a few examples of how a selfless member of the International Design Guild made a difference in their community.

2020 has not been an easy year, but that has not stopped Carlson’s Flooring from doing what they can to give back to their community. We are putting Carlson’s Flooring in the spotlight for making a difference in their community during such a difficult year. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in full force, Carlson’s Flooring did not hesitate to step up to the plate and help those in their community in need. They went above and beyond what anyone expected of them and took care of local first responders and hospital workers.

Donating Meals

Donating Meals

Lisa and Greg Nelson were happy to sponsor and deliver 30 meals for their local health care professionals working at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital. They reached out to local restaurant Stockholm’s who helped prepare the meals for each health care professional, and Image Awards, Engraving & Creative Keepsakes, Inc made a beautiful medal that was placed on one of the bags.

Gift Basket Giveaway

Gift Basket Giveaway

Carlson’s Flooring thanked and honored health care workers by holding a gift basket giveaway contest. Customers could nominate a health care worker by tagging them in a Facebook post, sharing it, and commenting on why they are special. The basket was filled with items from local small businesses in their community. Carlson’s Flooring also donated swag bags to their local health care workers as a way to show their thanks for all that they are doing. We are proud of Carlson’s for giving back to their community and taking care of their own.

We look forward to hearing the stories about your nominees and how they made a difference in your community!
