Finger Lakes Independence Center (FLIC) services individuals with disabilities with a number of different programs designed to help them lead a happier, healthier and safer life. The design team lends their talents to completely transform the space to be accessible and functional!

The team at Select Surfaces has done it again transforming an old sterile bank into a mountain inspired oasis for the staff and clients at Mountain Valley Developmental Services in Minturn, CO.
Morristown Neighborhood House
Giving back runs in the family as J&S Designer Flooring owners Javid & Sima Hakakian take on their first Design For A Difference project with the support of their son, Jonathan, to makeover the Morristown Neighborhood House, a non-profit organization providing education to local children and youth.
Mountain View Makeover
IDG showroom owner, Fred Wee and his amazing team of interior design students-turned-professionals come together again to transform the Community Health Awareness Council, a local non-profit organization that thrives on building happier and healthier communities.
DFAD hits a new high in Avon, Colorado as Select Surfaces owners Rob & Deb Davis, along with their partner Becky Maddux, spearhead the transformation of SOS Outreach, a national non-profit organization focusing on development for at-risk youth.
East Madison Community Center
FLOOR360 owner, Bob Tobe and his incredible Design For A Difference Madison team have outdone themselves yet again. Under the leadership of Angela Skalitzky, 44 interior designers and over 200 individuals and companies joined forces to complete a 12,800 sqft. makeover of the East Madison Community Center, a community center that caters to the needs of local families.
International Design Guild member Bob Tobe and his team made history with the largest Design For A Difference™ makeover to date. Led by Floor 360, thirty-eight interior designers joined with over one-hundred businesses to complete a 12,000 sq. ft. design makeover of Centro Hispano, a cultural center for the Hispanic community of Madison with a mission of empowering youth, strengthening families and engaging the community.
Bob Tobe, owner at Floor360 and a team of 12 designers gave back to their community in a BIG way. As a kick-off to 2015's Design for a Difference movement Bob and his group transformed this bland, unembellished hodgepodge commercial space into an exciting, bright, stimulating area for the children & families that rely on the respite center at local Madison, WI charity, Rise (Center for Families).
The Design for a Difference Minneapolis project rallied a group of designers including Lucy Interior Design, Intersource INC, InUnison Design, Insite Interiors LLC & more to create room vignettes to benefit Bridging MN. Watch the final #DFAD project reveal!
Mountain View Makeover
IDG showroom owner, Fred Wee of Interiors & Textiles brought together a group of student designers and corporate sponsors to transform the dreary lobby at Community Services Agency into a vibrant and inviting 'Welcome Center'.
Outside the Box
In 2015, Allen Gindt the Retail Manager of Blakely's Flooring brought Design for a Difference to Indy in a major way! Blakely's selected the Indianapolis charity Outside the Box to receive their local makeover, which blossomed into a makeover valued at over $115,000 thanks to the astonishing support of the Indianapolis community.
Kansas City Makeover
2014 National Design for a Difference winner Stephanie Stroud along with IDG showroom Madden-McFarland gave Kansas City charity Operation Breakthrough, a charity that aids underprivileged families in the Kansas City area, a makeover to remember. Team Stephanie and four regional winners created a beautiful space and delivered happiness.
In 2013, IDG showroom owner Gina Cook of Gina’s Design Center in Spokane, WA won the debut of the Design For A Difference contest to help make over Transitions, a Spokane charity offering transitional housing for woman and children. Talented designers renovated the common area and transformed the space from bland to beautiful for the families living at Transitions.
