Making a Difference in Your Community

The COVID-19 Pandemic turned everyone’s lives upside down. While some were able to adjust better than others, everyone faced new and different challenges. Some of those people were able to find the silver lining and make a difficult situation better for others in their community. The art of giving back and gifting is known as philanthropy. The beauty of philanthropy is that it does not have to be extravagant. It is as simple as helping your neighbor with tasks like carrying their groceries to their front door. Below are simple, yet meaningful ways to give back to your community.

Helping A Neighbor

A Random Act of Kindness for A Neighbor

Volunteering your time and energy can help strengthen your neighborhood with simple gestures of kindness. Lending a helping hand to a neighbor who is juggling handfuls of groceries, to moving a piece of furniture, is a generous act that leaves a lasting impression.

During these challenging times, a local police department was made aware that a 93-year-old father of one of their fallen officers needed a motorized wheelchair. Donations were collected to help purchase the wheelchair and a small group of police officers surprised the gentleman and his wife with the wheelchair. This community was willing to go above and beyond to help one another.

Donate Your Time

One of the most effective ways of giving back is volunteering your time at places like your local non-profit, school, homeless shelter, food bank, etc. Your time is valuable and gifting it can make a world of difference in the lives of many.

Local food banks have been working tirelessly since the spread of COVID-19 to ensure their neighbors in need know where their next meal is coming from. The dedication to their mission during this critical time of need has been unwavering. Their community is grateful for their efforts spent on the front lines preparing meals and aiding partner agencies and those in need.

Participate in Fundraisers and Charity Events

Finding a cause that you are passionate about can be a great motivation for assisting or even creating a fundraising event or charitable activity in your community. Local homeless shelters and food banks across the country are running out of supplies to continue to provide those in need. Help support these local organizations by starting a fundraiser to collect money to purchase essential items. This can be something as easy as a bake sale!
